What to expect at the physical examination
COMBI understands that time is valuable, and we make every effort to provide you with prompt and courteous service. DOT physical examinations do not require an appointment, and are seen on a first come first serve basis. We make every effort to complete these examinations as quickly as possible. However, we recommend that you allow at least 2 hours for your visit to the clinic. Note: it rarely takes this long, but we are unable to predict. The visit will consist of the following steps:
- Receptionist will provide all required paperwork for completion. (If your employer has their own forms they would prefer we use, please contact your HR office - unless we have these forms at the clinic.)
- Urinalysis. DOT requires that the urine be tested for glucose and other elements. It only requires a small amount of urine and may be done in addition to any drug screen collection that may be required. If we are your drug screen collection location we will also complete that collection at this time.
- Height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, hearing and vision testing are completed by medical assistants.
- Examination by a physician or a nurse practitioner.
